Cuban head of state, Miguel Díaz-Canel, yesterday thanked President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for remembering Latin American heroes, after the Mexican leader on Tuesday expressed his admiration for Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara.
“Thank you dear Andrés Manuel @lopezobrador_, because you never forget in your ‘mornings’ the words that do justice to #OurAmerica, its peoples and its heroes. #FidelPorAlways,” Díaz-Canel said via social networks.
In a meeting at Palaio Nacional with Morena legislators and their allies, the President expressed his admiration for the Cuban revolutionaries. “I am an idealist, and so yes, I admire the men of power, those who exercise power, it is the case of Fidel (Castro) and Che (Ernesto Guevara).
“If you tell young people, they say Che, yes, because of idealism; but Fidel was the one who led, whether we agree or not, that process of independence, because he is an example, he is one of the few countries in the world where they have not allowed foreign intervention,” said President López Obrador.
