Almost every day for decades since the triumph and consolidation of the Cuban Revolution after 1959, the Miami Herald has pulled no punches in its aggressive hostility and over-the-top propaganda against the Cuban Revolution, in columns and so-called news stories.
As far as the Miami Herald’s publishers and editors were concerned, no conspiracy theory was too ludicrous, no unsubstantiated assertion or conscious disinformation too blatant for this paragon of “freedom of the press” to promote when it comes to the Cuban Revolution past, present, and future. The amazing advances (especially in the face of the US economic and political war) of the Revolution on so many fronts from health care and education to women’s liberation and against racism are ignored or turned into their opposite. No anti-Cuba lie will go unpublicized in the Miami Herald! The Miami Herald’s hatred and bile against the Cuban Revolution is a perfect illustration of Malcolm X’s classic definition of the US capitalist, pro-imperialist media who “turn the victim into the criminal and the criminal into the victim.”
And yet every day the Herald reports factually on the catastrophe unfolding in Florida and South Florida.
We should bombard the Herald with letters, op-Ed submissions, tweets, etc. demanding that the report the facts on how socialist Cuba has “performed” compared to the state of Florida in this pandemic! We should demand an end to slandering Cuban doctors and the heroic Henry Reeve Brigades in the pages of the Miami Herald!
Clearly Florida and South Florida could use some help from these heroes!
